Right Total Hip Replacement
‘Before my hip replacement by Dr. Thomas Boerger, I was in an awful amount of pain, in fact so much so, that it was difficult to move. Even sleeping was a problem, as each time I would turn in the bed, it would be agony. I had lived with pain for two and half years, with the last 6 months being really bad. Yet now I have had the hip replacement, I am pain free! My life is so different. I am already virtually back to my life before all the pain started. I am so very happy!
Background
Before the operation, my quality of life was quite bad to be honest, so I knew there was a problem. I was in awful, awful pain, taking pain killers every day, and suffering with poor sleep. I had seen doctors before, tried different solutions from pain relief and injections. The pain restricted movement so much, that I knew, the time had come for a hip replacement.
I was added to the health service waiting list, but my work suggested I use my private medical insurance, and I was able to get the procedure covered by my AXA insurance
The Consultation
I had my consultation with Dr Boerger in Gibraltar, at Specialist Medical Clinic. I found him to be very kind, and very considerate. He clearly is an expert.
After getting x-rays, and a second consultation to discuss them, I went ahead with the operation. There was no doubt about the need for the total hip replacement.
Dr Boerger’s team are wonderful. Louise, his patient care co-ordination made all the arrangements and also dealt with the insurance claim, which meant that I just had to focus on my wellbeing. Tanya, his nurse, was also very kind and I really felt very well looked after.
The Procedure
Dr Boerger was there with me beforehand, which was very reassuring , and afterwards as well, to confirm that all had gone well. During my recuperation at HC Marbella, he also came to check on me, so I felt the service was excellent.
Before the operation, I was quite worried, but I can honestly say that now I have been through it, I am so pleased I had the hip replacement! The care I have received has been absolutely wonderful.
Aftercare
I have been following the recommended exercises, as I know this recovery time is a process and I understand that I need to be an active part of supporting my recovery.
Now I am up and about and back to a normal life. Compared to the pain before and my life now, its like night & day. I can’t thank Dr. Boerger enough!
